Integration with Rhino-Grasshopper®: BIM and algorithmic modeling together, for a unique experience of design freedom that’s never been seen before!

Alongside SketchUp and Blender, Edificius BIM3 now supports an additional integration process that dynamically connects with Rhino-Grasshopper®, one of the most powerful algorithmic modeling software for the generation and control of simple and complex shapes.

Thanks to the Edificius-Rhino-Grasshopper® connection you can:

  • import  Rhino-Grasshopper® models into Edificius
  • modify existing models (even if previously imported into Edificius)
  • manage point cloud clusters
  • take advantage of Grasshopper® parametric systems to obtain increasingly complex shapes

New functions MEP | Edificius | ACCA software

Complete your MEP systems modelling with the new objects and functions for the Electrical aspects of MEP in a BIM design workflow.

With Edificius BIM 3 the new MEP environment provides specific modelling tools for the different kinds of electrical installations and also addresses interference issues with other plant MEP related systems.

You can:

  • create MEP objects using specific parametric configurators (for example, use the manufacturer’s object parameters to define or customize a new device box);
  • position objects on walls and floors and specify their distance from other surrounding elements using their snap points.
  • copy predefined modules from one object to another to speed up modeling
  • easily connect two or more elements (for example, connect two junction boxes)
  • generate joints automatically
  • export the entire project, or parts of it, in the IFC format
  • label all objects for your construction documents
  • add object legends
  • quickly obtain all relevant drawings (floor plans, area plans, elevation views, cross sections and 3D views of the MEP systems)

New Real-Time Ray Tracing (RTX) technology for even more powerful and photorealistic real-time rendering

The new Edificius BIM 3 uses Real-Time Ray Tracing technology to calculate the path of light rays and their interaction with surrounding objects.

The result is an even more professional Real-Time render experience, greater depth in your scenes, better reflections, soft and accurate shadows and more realistic global illumination.

Further performance improvements, together with quality graphics enhancements have also been added. In summary we now have:

  • in addition to the "Point Light" and "Spot Light" the "Area Light" object, a new type of light source (simulates a luminous surface) is also available.
  • the SSGI (Screen Space Global Illumination) technology, which calculates the indirect illumination to and from the objects
  • the optimal management of spaced objects, with a notable reduction in scene calculation and processing time
  • a new white balance system

The RTBIM environment’s interface has also been redesigned allowing you to work in an improved manner. Quickly find any sort of function (lights, shadows, RTBIM effects, indoor/outdoor photos) at your fingertips and learn how to use the software immediately.

The update of the RTBIM environment interface will be available soon.

With the VRiBIM immersive reality module, Edificius now supports the HTC Cosmos and Oculus Quest 2 HMDs

Material textures | Edificius | ACCA software

Material textures: new texture management in both 3D and Real-Time

With the new Edificius BIM 3, you can manage your material textures with improved definition tools directly in 3D view or in real-time. Adjust texture scaling, orientation and mapping coordinates directly on the object surface. In particular you can:

  • define an offset value along the x, y-axes, move the entire texture along the axes of the objects
  • rotate textures
  • texture scaling to increase or decrease their size in relation to the object.
Library Management | Edificius | ACCA software

Library Management: new interface and new user experience

The object libraries, supplied with Edificius, are now easier to consult, to use and to customize:

  • a new Home presents all the Edificius BIM objects and offers quick access to all the Archive categories.
  • new commands for quicker browsing, arranging the objects for viewing, import and export of the native. BOL format, either for single objects, or for the entire BIM library, have also been implemented together with an improved publication service for sharing your objects online with the Edificius BIM community
  • now you can quickly modify materials and elements with a direct access to the editor, with just a simple click.
HBIM (Heritage BIM) | Edificius | ACCA software

HBIM (Heritage BIM): Edificius BIM3 revolutionizes the digitization of existing and historical building heritage

The acronym HBIM (Heritage Building Information Modeling) means the application of the BIM methodology even when modeling historic buildings, managing damage assessments and assisted design tools for dealing with reconstruction works, protection and maintenance of existing assets.

With the digitization of existing and historical building heritage, Edificius BIM 3 has a new BIM modelling environment, together with a dedicated library of new BIM objects and specific editors:

  • The vault editor
    You can model different types of vaults using new specific objects (barrel, rampant barrel, lame barrel, pavilion, polygonal-based pavilions, polygonal-based cross, domes, lunettes/holes, horizontal and vertical cuts)
  • The Rib object
    You can insert rib reinforcements both in the soffit and the extrados of the vault, either manually or automatically using the magic wand.
  • The ceiling with wooden joists
    You can now create and customise a wooden floor, specifying all the essential aspects such as the deck thickness, the cross-section, the spacing and the rotation of the joists.
  • Area of degredation
    A special editor allows you to define any degraded areas to which you can associate a certain material.
  • Crackings
    A specific editor allows you to identify and highlight cracked regions on a specific building element.
  • Orthophoto
    With Edificius BIM 3, now associate an orthophoto with a building element.
Point Cloud | Edificus | ACCA software

Point Cloud: manage and feed any size of file to the usBIM cloud service directly from the software

With the new Edificius BIM 3 you manage point clouds directly from usBIM cloud using the usBIM.pointcloud application.

usBIM.pointcloud is integrated into Edificius and allows you to:

  • import and manage point clouds, even large file sizes, very easily
  • federate different models
  • select the portion of the cloud that you need to work with.
  • identify corners and floors (horizontal, vertical and oblique) directly from the point cloud
  • associate Edificius elements (building envelopes, windows, etc)
Material Layers | Edificius | ACCA software

Material Layers: new extraordinary functions for managing material layers and thermal properties in a 3D graphical representation.

The new Edificius allows you to manage building element material layers (vertical and horizontal building envelopes, roof tops, etc.) in an extremely innovative and functional way and also get the optimal results from both a technical and a graphical point of view.

With Edificius you can:

  • generate and manage material layers by inserting, deleting or moving the individual material layers
  • organize the different materials in a hierarchical manner (assigning the core and the Layer type)
  • display the material layers in 3D view and also in the drawing models.
  • modify all thermal values present in the material layer representation, while keeping your eyes on the different diagrams (for example the Glaser diagram).
Import files modeled and exported with Revit | Edificius | ACCA software

Revit: file conversion and import

(Available now)

With the new Edificius you can convert Revit families (.RFA) for use in your Edificius 3D BIM projects.

The conversion procedure uses the integration with usBIM:

  • launch usBIM and upload the model to your cloud space;
  • view the model in usBIM.browser and hide any parts of the model that aren't necessary for export;
  • start the model conversion and import procedure using the convert to .BOL button in usBIM.browser;
  • follow any further instructions as they appear on-screen.

Note: The procedure can also import Revit .RVT files as 3D OBJECTS but these will always be managed (with appropriate limitations in size) as a single Edificius 3D model.
